Emergency – This Book Will Save Your Life by Neil Strauss – Book Review
Before we talk about the book, let’s talk first about the author, so you will have an idea about what you will get yourself into, or at least the kind of writing you will find yourself reading.
Neil Strauss is the author of another book called The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists, a non-fiction book especially meant for peacocking. Neil Strauss apparently learned all the styles in peacocking from his master Mystery, the infamous mentalist (no, not mental) and Master Peacocker.
Now the novel Emergency: This Book Will Save You Life is another book written by Neil Strauss, and is another non-fiction book just recently released. The book is like another walk-through in life and basically how to stay alive. The publisher describes Emergency as “one man’s story of a dangerous world and how to stay alive in it”.
But the content actually covers a lot of topics, from terrorism to economic downturn, and even climate change. Strauss even includes learning how to shoot someone and how to get away with it. Possibly all the non-crazy and (mostly) crazy stuff you can think about, it’s in the book. How to butcher a goat and eat it too? Yep! It’s here.
But with all that being said, Neil Strauss is still a pretty good writer. The topic may cause a lot of people to wonder, but he’s good enough to pull something like this off. Another reviewer tells of the book (hint: the Rolling Stone magazine), “The world is in crisis. If you’re looking for an escape plan, this book is it.”
While it’s true that Neil Strauss used to write for Rolling Stone and you may think the review is biased, I’m telling you Rolling Stone has quite the guts to promote someone if he’s not good-which by the way, he is.
