Or maybe you want to put a few different things into the folder to make the process a bit less tedious for everyone concerned. Either way, you need to know how make a zipped folder. So, let me tell you how…
In a nutshell, what you need to do is to create a folder and put content into it, so that visitors to your website will be able to download it.
Here is the process, step-by-step:
1. Anywhere on your Desktop – right click on your mouse and choose New.
2. Then click on Folder and a new folder will appear on your Desktop.
3. Name it something you’ll remember – it’s better not to have any spaces in the file name.
4. Right click on the folder and choose Send To and then Compressed (zipped) Folder.
5. The zipped folder will appear on your Desktop – you’ll notice the size of the folder has reduced.
That’s all there is to making a zipped folder! Now all you need to do is upload it to the web as follows:
1. Go to your FTP Client (eg Filezilla) and type in your details.
2. Find the zipped file in your Local Browzer at the left hand side of the screen – highlight it and drag it over to the public_html file in your Remote Browzer on the right hand side of the screen.
3. Once it has uploaded you will find the zipped folder at yourdomainname/filename.zip
