SIMPLE and EASY Methods to Improving Your Hockey Speed
How to Become a Faster Skater
If you’re looking for a simple answer here then you are sorely mistaken. To become a faster skater and improve your hockey speed, you need to be committed in your decision to do so. This is not something that you can do with minimal effort.
The most important step into becoming a better skater is your desire to do so. If you truly want something, and you put the time and effort into it, you will surely succeed! The same thing applies here- if you want to improve your hockey speed, then you have to WANT IT.
What Resources Will I Need?
If you are looking to become a faster skater and an overall better hockey player, then you need to get going on a dryland program immediately. Off-ice training is key to any hockey player and will help him/her advance to that next level.
For the sake of improving hockey speed, you’re going to want a program that will emphasize strength in the legs. I would highly recommend plyometrics for all hockey players. Plyometrics is going to give you what you need to become a faster player on the ice. Plyometrics focuses on the muscles that give you a powerful stride.
In my opinion, every hockey player should do plyometrics in their off-ice routine just because it brings so many benefits to the table. You will have stronger leg muscles not only for skating, but also for hitting as well. It will make you a tougher opponent to battle and a more dominant force on the ice.
